1)  From ORCID sign-in page, click "Register Now".

2)  Go through the 3 steps to create a new account.

  • You can use HKUST email as the primary email and add your personal email as a backup email.
  • Make sure you set your ORCID open to "Everyone" so everyone can see your publication records. The visibility can be changed after the page is set up.

  • "Could this be you"? - This pops up when ORCID found some records that may possibly belong to you. Click "None of these are me. Continue with registration" to proceed, or "Go back to sign in" if any suggested record belongs to you.

3)  Connect with HKUST.

Click "Authorize access" to authorize HKUST SPD Service to access and update your ORCID record.

  • If you have an SPD profile, you can also add your SPD publications to ORCID.

  • If you do not have an SPD profile, only biographical data and affiliation will be added to your ORCID profile.

4)  DONE!

You will see a new Employment entry (for staff) or Education entry (for students) added to your ORCID profile page. The source will be HKUST.

If you choose to add your SPD publications to your ORCID, you will see them under "Works".
