Steps to find peer-reviewed journal articles in OneSearch:

  1. Conduct a search in OneSearch.
  2. Refine results to Peer-reviewed Journals and Articles if you wish to read peer-reviewed journal articles only. You can also make use of other filters on the sidebar to further refine your results, e.g. year range.
  3. Click on the links to get access to full-texts. More tips to read full-text here. Sign in with your NetID and NetPassword if you are accessing off-campus.

To search articles in Google Scholar, we suggest that you access Google Scholar via the Library homepage, especially when you are out of campus. Then, you will be able to directly access the full text of the articles (that the libray has subscribed to) through PolyU eLinks.

Steps:

  1. Visit Library homepage, switch to the Articles tag.
  2. Click on Google Scholar@PolyU. Sign in with your NetID and NetPassword if you are out of campus.
  3. Conduct a search in Google Scholar. The article within our collection will be provided with the "PolyU eLinks" option, which allows you to access full-texts from the Library.

Alternatively, you may change the setting in your Google Scholar to link it up with Library subscribed databases. This is identical to clicking on Google Scholar@PolyU via Library homepage.

Article Databases


Citation Databases

Citation Database does not provide full-text articles, but they are very helpful for exploring related articles by looking at citing articles (who cited the article) and references (who have been cited by the article).

If you do not have an idea which databases or journals should go for, you may start with Scopus and Web of Science which are the two largest multidisciplinary citation databases:

Full-text not available? Try Interlibrary Loan & Document Delivery Services (ILL).

The current system mentioned below is going to be phased out on 30 Jan 2024. The library is going to launch a new system on the same day for Interlibrary Loan and HKALL. Stay tuned for the updates!

ILL helps you to access literature beyond our collection from libraries and suppliers worldwide. The types of literature you can request via interlibrary loan include books, journal articles, book chapters, conference papers, and so on.

To request literature via interlibrary loan, you may refer to our video tutorial or follow the steps below:

  1. Click on Using the Library > Interlibrary Loans (Request Submission & User Guide) from the Library homepage.

     
  2. Click on online request and login with your NetID and NetPassword.

     
  3. You will then able to view your quota for ILL. Click on Logon to ILLiad to continue.

     
  4. Select an appropriate type of literature under New Request.
  5. Click on Submit Request after filing in the required information on the request form.
  6. You will receive a notification email once the item requested is available. It normally takes 1 to 2 weeks, or even longer, depending on its type of material, sources, and availability. 
    You can always check the progress of item(s) requested from Outstanding Requests.
